“Revolutionizing Game Development with AI: Perspectives from Krafton Inc’s CEO in India”

Speaking at the Business Today Tech Today Congress, Sean Hyunil Sohn, the India CEO of Krafton Inc, the developer of BGMI, expressed his belief in the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize the gaming development process. Sohn emphasized that AI is a disruptive technology in the gaming industry, offering efficient and cost-saving benefits along with a streamlined development timeline. He further highlighted the role of deep learning in enabling new and innovative gameplay experiences. Krafton Inc is actively exploring AI’s potential through several pilot projects.

The “New Gaming Frontier: Leveraging Cutting-Edge Technologies. Gaming Monetization. Investing in Gaming.” session at the Business Today Tech Today Congress featured Sean Sohn, alongside other panelists including Rajan Navani, Founder & CEO of JetSynthesys, and Sai Srinivas Kiran G, Co-Founder and CEO of Mobile Premier League. The session aimed to delve into the transformative potential of advanced technologies in the gaming industry, particularly in terms of monetization and investment opportunities.

Navani, during the session, discussed the need for a strong commitment to talent development in India’s gaming industry, emphasizing that India is relatively new to this sector compared to other countries. He highlighted the importance of investing substantial resources to build gaming titles, which is gradually gaining momentum.

Kiran expressed his long-term vision for India, stating that the country has the potential to become a net exporter rather than an importer in the gaming industry. Regarding the new gaming rules announced by the government, Kiran emphasized the need for a flexible framework that can be continuously discussed, debated, and updated in line with the rapidly evolving internet age.

Sohn addressed the perception of the Indian gaming market as being less profitable compared to other countries. However, he cited the success of BGMI and other games in India, which demonstrated that the Indian market has the potential for monetization and revenue generation. He acknowledged that some of the best gamers in the country have started making money, signaling a shift in the gaming landscape. Krafton Inc has recognized this potential and established a local office, hiring local talent and continuing to develop games for the Indian market.

Navani expressed his belief that India will pioneer a new model of gaming monetization, given that the current generation of gamers is less reachable through traditional mediums such as TV or newspapers. He emphasized the importance of brands engaging with consumers in unique ways to drive monetization in the gaming industry, catering to the preferences and behaviors of this gaming-centric audience.
